ENLARGE YOURSELF, Jérémy Griffaud, May 2021
For Small House Gallery One, young French artist Jérémy Griffaud made miniature prints of his paintings and drawings incorporated into his animation videos, and sent them with cell phones and a tablet for displaying his videos inside the house, as if on large screen TVs – something he uses in his life-sized exhibitions. The show explores the theme of toxic masculinity via bodybuilding culture.
Unfortunately, these expensive items were sent right after Brexit was completed, and the Customs officials on both sides of the Chanel wanted their cut of the phones’ worth. Scandalous and extortionate. But legal thanks to the Tories. Fuck the Tories.
